The 7th grade is off to Frost Valley on Wednesday! They will return on Friday after three busy days of indoor and outdoor activities. The students who go to Frost Valley and those students who are here at school, will all have great opportunities to explore, make deeper friendships, have new experiences and to participate in community building activities. There is more and more research being published advocating for schools to provide learning opportunities that strengthen character- and we believe that these three days do just that. Let’s hope it is not too cold either at Frost Valley or in NYC- however Mr. Romero and I are packing our layers and heading north with the gang! We will be there from Wednesday to Thursday.
Last week we had MAT Parent/Teacher Conferences- and yes, we understand that there never feels like enough time- and we welcome any suggestions! The PS126 Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on March 11- please make sure you set an appointment with your teacher(s)!
Finally- just to update you on the work of your devoted teachers- we have two “Think Tanks” currently running among the entire staff- one on CLOSE READING- a Core Curriculum Standards based instructional idea, and one on analyzing reading data and instruction on all grades and also content areas. We have many discussions ahead, many professional books and articles to explore, and many lessons to plan- and all of this work will continue to benefit your children. My thanks to our staff who all work and study so hard!
Please mark your calendars for Friday, March 28 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm- our first annual PS126/MAT Spring Auction! Tickets are on sale now- Please support our efforts to raise money for our wonderful school wide elective programs.
And a big congratulations to our SCHOLASTIC WINNERS!
